Dr Maye-Banbury explained why she developed Oral History Made Easy:

"Out of all hundreds of learning experiences I have designed over thirty year long career, the one I have enjoyed most creating is 'Oral History Made Easy.' I have loved marshaling my three decades of my experience as a practicing oral historian in essential skills, knowledge and  attributes needed by today's oral historians to be proficient curators of the past. This course places you, the student, at the very centre of your learning experience - and I will be supporting at every step of the way."

"So many people love the idea of doing oral history. But they often lack the skills, confidence and the budget needed to become an oral historian.  Oral History Made Easy is the course I wish had been available to meet when I first began my career aged 18. Unless we start to document and archive people's stories more consistently, we risk having them rewritten by others or even losing them altogether. Oral History Made Easy is a call to action so that these stories will not be forgotten by current or future generations. I will be with my students every step of the way as they too take those all important steps on their own oral history journey."
